XBASIC: Precompiler for Multivalue BASIC XBASIC is a precompilation "wrapper" for the Multivalue BASIC compiler. Using XBASIC, a developer can create BASIC code using system-specific constructs for any number of different Multivalue systems, and XBASIC will include or exclude code for a specific system at compilation. This allows a developer the freedom to use system-specific code without fear of compilation problems when the code is moved to a different platform. XBASIC was originally created as a conversion tool. However, its functionality goes beyond that purpose. Application developers who create and support software on a number of different systems can benefit from XBASIC because it effectively removes the restriction of using system-specific code in a centralized codebase.
