Time Saving Tip: /TCL

I've mentioned before that one of the ways I've found to type faster is to type less. To type less, consider executing commands from /TCL rather than from a prompt or menu. While that may seem like an odd distinction, consider this: /TCL has a stack of last executed commands so you can easily re-run a process without having to type the full command in again. No other prompt (where you can slash-run a process) has this feature.
Of course, if you're running something one time the /TCL method is actually more keystrokes. On the other hand, if you're testing a program and running it over and over again, running it from TCL and then using .X
n
(or even the up and down arrows) can save a LOT of keystrokes and hence save a lot of time.
With this in mind, I don't see any reason for typing something like /R*PO.HISTORY.LINE*VEND.PLINE.PURCH.RPT.XYZ more than once.

Just a note. At the TCL prompt, you can type ".L" to list the last 20 TCL commands that you typed. Or you can type ".Ln" and the number (n) of commands to go back (ie.. ".L40" will go to the 40th command in your stack and list the 20 commands since that command.
