To Dream the Impossible Dream...

« on: February 18, 2011, 12:10:45 PM »

I have a Report Writer (/RD) report that has break totals for PRICE.EXT and PROFIT.EXT from the ORDER.HISTORY.LINE file.  I am breaking on the invoice date, accumulating the PRICE.EXT and the PROFIT.EXT and get a total price extension (T.PRICE.EXT) and a total profit extension (T.PROFIT.EXT).
What I want to do is put on the same break line the gross profit percentage (T.PROFIT.EXT/T.PRICE.EXT).  But all I get is blank.  I am able to display each value again separately but when I put a formula like   (T.PROFIT.EXT/T.PRICE.EXT) in the derived slot I get nothing.  What else can I do?

Be careful about using the "/" for divide like this.  Remember that in SB+ "/" doesn't mean the same thing as in BASIC.  You might try using the pipe "|" instead.  Any difference?

Love it when a plan comes together.  That said, that pipe thing still trips me up with some frequency.

Yeah, I've been having my fair share of problems with / vs |, myself.  Took me a while to figure that one out.
