Rogue Record Locks

We're currently chasing down some situations in the Activant/Prelude app where record locks don't get released from Sales Order or Quote Entry. This appears to cause the continuous printer to stop until that record lock is released. I've personally seen it at a couple of different sites, one running V17 and another on V18. Does anyone else see this kind of thing happening, or have you worked out specifically which program(s) might be leaving the locks?

When we converted to V19.5 in April 2007 we had the exact same problem. What it turned out to be was orders that had order acknowledgements. The pick ticket would print fine via the continuous printer however the order ack got stuck. We don't print order ack, we fax or email them. When the order ack was printed, there was no problem. Basically the continuous printer driver was locking the record before it tried to open it. So when it went to open it, well the record was locked. It took Prelude 4 days to fix it completely.
Support told me they were going to roll the changes made to our continuous driver back to base even thou it technically is a “user form.”
Prelude blamed the problem on the fact that we were NOT using Optio and that we were the first non Optio to upgrade to V19.5.
We did not discover the problem with email/ fax of order ack until go live because the system had to be under a certain amount of load and we had that feature turned off during testing. We had fax/ email turned off in company setup so that as people tested the system they would not inadvertantly send stuff to customers and vendors. We did turn on Fax/ Email at one point so that a select number of people could make sure it worked, but then we turned it back off. It took some system load to trigger this problem.

So was the problem actually with the user form code, or was it somewhere else?

Problem was in the Continuous Printer code. The continuous printer is considered a user form.
